Kendra and I just returned from a week in California where we spent time with my family along the Central California Coast. Here are ten images to get us started. I have more to process, but they’ll have to wait. In the meantime, enjoy these black & white pictures.

Sedona 2010, No. 15

It’s been awhile since I have posted some photos, so here are 13 from the past few weeks. We’ve had summer storms creating interesting skies, and we visited the granite dells near Prescott, Arizona — 75 minutes southwest of Sedona. There are a few others thrown in for good measure, including the ruins of Sinagua Indian cliff dwellings that are nearly 1000 years old.

Well, it’s been awhile since I’ve posted any pictures here, so here we go. We’ve had lots of monsoon storms and interesting skies over the past weeks. Cactus have gotten colorful too.

Sedona 2010, No. 13

Earlier in the week, we visited the V-Bar-Ranch/US Forest Service Heritage Site to view the petroglyphs. These petroglypths date from 1150-1450 CE and are part of a solar calendar that the Indians depended on for farming. When sunlight or shadows fell on particular petroglyphs on the wall, they knew when to plant, harvest, etc. This is a highly concentrated collection of petroglyphs that anthropologists call the verde style.
